Disney Aulani x Oceanic Institution Yellow Tang Release

The Oceanic Institute (OI) of HPU marked a historic milestone by releasing over 140 aqua-cultured juvenile yellow tang (lauʻīpala) into the waters of Oahu. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with Disney’s Aulani Resort, represented the first documented release of fish in Hawaiʻi aimed specifically at ecosystem restoration rather than food production—a significant step toward preserving Hawaiʻi’s coral reefs.
